“Folks who can and don’t read good books have no advantage over the man who can’t read them.”
-Mark Twain
At the start of the 2015, Mark Zuckerberg had posted on Facebook –that he was starting a new challenge for the year.
Zuck took upon himself reading one book every 2 weeks through out the year, with the books covering a diverse range of topics. At the end of the year, his post notifying the end of the challenge (and not reading itself) appeared in my Newsfeed.
Earlier he also had created a Facebook community A Year Of Books stating:
“We will read a new book every two weeks and discuss it here. Our books will emphasize learning about new cultures, beliefs, histories and technologies.”
Inspired by this, a website too was setup to join the initiative www.ayearofbooks.net – a kind of a book club marking the year 2015 – “A year of Books”.
When I saw this post late December, I decided on embarking on the similar quest myself for the year 2016. Zuck’s “A Year of Books” had 23 books on the reading list. I’m sure all of them were good reads but I set out to create a reading list of my own. I didn’t make a list of books beforehand, but thought of creating one as I go along.
Come June 2016 here is the list of books that I have read up until till now for “My Year of Books”:
- The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho
- The Greatest Salesman In The World – Og Mandino
- The Richest Man In Babylon – George S. Clason
- 48 Laws Of Power – Robert Greene
- Think and Grow Rich – Napolean Hill
- The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People – Stephen R. Covey
- The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari – Robin Sharma
- The Way Of The Superior Man – David Deida
- Rich Dad, Poor Dad – Robert Kiyosaki
- Cash Flow Quadrant – Robert Kiyosaki
- The 4-Hour Workweek – Timothy Ferriss
- Thinking Fast And Slow – Daniel Kahneman
- फिरफिरे – बुद्धिसागर
- If You’re Not First, You’re Last – Grant Cardone
- The Thank You Economy – Gary Vaynerchuk
Hope to take this list upto 30-40 till the end of the year.
Cheers!!!
